M17 MIR: A Massive Protostar with Multiple Accretion Outbursts *

چکیده
We report the discovery of a massive protostar M17~MIR embedded in hot molecular core M17. The multiwavelength data obtained during 1993--2019 show significant mid-IR (MIR) variations, which can be split into three stages: decreasing phase 1993.03--mid-2004, quiescent from mid-2004 to mid-2010, and rebrightening mid-2010 until now. variation 22\,GHz H$_2$O maser emission, together with MIR variation, indicates an enhanced disk accretion rate onto phases. Radiative transfer modeling spectral energy distributions 2005 epoch (quiescent) 2017 (accretion outburst) constrains basic stellar parameters M17~MIR, is intermediate-mass (M~5.4 Msun) ~1.1x10^-5 Msun ~1.7x10^-3 Msun/yr epoch. outburst induces luminosity $\Delta L\approx7600 $Lsun. In outburst, larger radius required produce consistent value estimated kinematics water masers. M17 shows two outbursts ($\Delta t\sim 9-20$ yr) magnitudes 2 mag, separated by 6 yr phase. outbusrt occupies 83\% time over 26 yr. variable amplitude much lower than contrast between extreme youth suggests that minor bursts are frequent earliest stages star formation.

Accretion onto a primordial protostar
We present a three-dimensional numerical simulation that resolves the formation process of a Population III star down to a scale of ∼ 100 AU. The simulation is initialized on the scale of a dark matter halo of mass ∼ 106M that virializes at z ∼ 20. It then follows the formation of a fully-molecular central core, and traces the accretion from the diffuse dust-free cloud onto the protostellar cor...
متن کاملOutbursts of Irradiated Accretion Discs
I solve analytically the viscous evolution of a self–irradiated accretion disc, as seen during outbursts of soft X–ray transients. The solutions predict steep power–law X– ray decays LX ∼ (1 + t/tvisc) , changing to LX ∼ (1 − t/t ′ visc ) at late times, where tvisc, t ′ visc are viscous timescales. These forms closely resemble the approximate exponential and linear decays inferred by King and R...
متن کاملAccretion-powered Millisecond Pulsar Outbursts
The population of accretion-powered millisecond pulsars (AMSPs) has grown rapidly over the last four years, with the discovery of six new examples to bring the total sample to seven. While the first six discovered are transients active for a few weeks every two or more years, the most recently-discovered source HETE J1900.1−2455, has been active for more than 8 months. We summarise the transien...
متن کاملTurmoil in Orion: The Nearest Massive Protostar
I discuss different theories of massive star formation: formation from massive cores, competitive Bondi-Hoyle accretion, and protostellar collisions. I summarize basic features of the Turbulent Core Model (TCM). I then introduce the Orion Kleinmann-Low (KL) region, embedded in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) and one of the nearest regions of massive star formation. The KL region contains three p...
متن کاملDiscovery of a Massive Protostar near IRAS18507+0121
We have observed the massive star forming region, IRAS18507+0121, at millimeter wavelengths in 3 mm continuum emission and HCO(J=1–0) and SiO(v=0, J=2–1) line emission, and at near-infrared wavelengths between 1.2 and 2.1μm. Two compact molecular cores are detected: one north and one south separated by ∼ 40′′. The northern molecular core contains a newly discovered, deeply embedded, B2 protosta...
